Projects

GIFTNS works to support making positive change in the communities of Staten Island's North Shore. The following details some of our involvement....

Closing The Jersey Street Sanitation Garage:

The Department of Sanitation's Jersey Street facility is the largest Sanitation operation other than their operations at the Staten Island landfill. The Sanitation garage on Jersey Street is basically a large parking garage for approximately 125 diesel trucks and various other equipment. These large garbage trucks are operated six days a week. The garage is a noisy, putrid eyesore.           For More Information

 Cleaning Jersey Street:

GIFTNS has joined the Gee family of New Brighton in sweeping up the Jersey Street and Brighton Avenue intersection. Every Sunday morning for the past 4 years the Gee family have been street cleaning in a effort to improve the quality of live in New Brighton. Feel free to join in the effort.

Planting Trees On The North Shore:

Following the lead of the Mayor Bloomberg, GIFTNS got involved in the movement to plant a million trees in New York City. Locating areas in the New Brighton community in need of shade and beauty, GIFTNS made recommendations to the MillionTreesNYC initiative.   For More Information
